0VII. ERASMUS AND INTERNACIONALIZATION
As a student of the IMC, I had the opportunity to interact with people from different countries, current students and future professionals with whom there is already a special bond. Thus, the international exchange student returns home with a list of international and highly professional contacts directly related to her or his profession, list that may be useful in their future careers.
On the other hand, thanks to IMC programs, I had the opportunity to visit major tourist fairs at European level and to maintain current contact with professionals in the sector in addition to attending several workshops and lectures given by leading companies in the Tourism. The first fair visited was the ITB in Berlin, which is the leading trade fair for the global tourism industry. Tourism businesses go there from all types and countries. That was how I could contact staff from different companies, exchange business cards and learn about new brands and products.
Secondly, due to my interest in the Organization of Events, I joined the visit to the IMEX
fair in Frankfurt. This fair is one of the most important for events and incentive travel at an international level and many companies go there from every continent. The IMEX is specially
aimed at entrepreneurs and companies go there with the intention of doing businesses. It is true that there are special passes for students. I went there with the intention of interacting with professionals of the sector, learning about the different exhibitors and trying to learn from them in the lectures and workshops.
The truth is that my visit to IMEX in Frankfurt went pretty good. During the days I went to the show, I held conversations with executives from different companies and I provided to many of them my business card for future contacts, especially thinking about the Internship of the degree. That is how I met Mr. Borja del Cuvillo, general manager of the company Events & Co, a company dedicated to the Events Organization in which I am currently doing the Internship of my degree. Thanks to the conversation held with Mr. del Cuvillo in Frankfurt, I had the option to contact the director of the Madrid office, who after the recommendations of her general manager did not hesitate to admit me in the company.
This is as an example of how internationalization helps the students to find a job.
