VIII. FACTS AND ANECDOTES

19 Oct 2011, 01:26
Austria is a country where people have some habits different from the Spanish ones and during my stay in Krems I learned some of them. One of the things that the Austrians are proud of, is its punctuality and it is interesting to discover that the image they have about the Spanish is that we are unpunctual. Unfortunately, sometimes the experience proves they are right. The truth is that for the majority of Austrians, to arrive at the specified time means to be late, they always go to appointments, meetings, classes, etc.. minutes before that time. It is something that I personally had never done but now I have learnt to do it.

Another curious fact is that the Austrians (and most northern Europeans) take their shoes off when they get home. At first I was not used to it and sometimes I went inside a house without taking them off, but quickly I learnt to do it and I started doing it in my apartment too. The truth is that it is very comfortable and it helps to save time in cleaning. I must say I have tried it at home in Madrid, but it was an impossible mission...

In Austria there is a beautiful village called Hallstatt. I was lucky to travel to this
place that has beautiful views thanks to its lake and surrounding mountains. Well this village is so beautiful that in China, in the Guangdong Province, a copy of this village is being made at a real size. They are copying even the facades of the houses.
