Hola a todos/as, Hoy es 1 de mayo, en España fiesta del trabajador, pero como erasmus en Finlandia hoy es el último dia de Vappu (una semana de parties donde todo el mundo está de marcha, bebiendo y todo). Pero hoy no voy a hablar de eso, ya que es otro tema. Como hace ya más de un mes que no me dedicaba a escribir algun post, hoy lo voy a dedicar al país más grande del mundo (en área): RUSIA. El pasado mes de abril yo y algunos erasmus hicimos un gran viaje (por agencia) al vecino ruso con el propósito de visitar las 2 ciudades rusas más conocidas e importantes: San Petersburgo y Moscú. Este viaje fue entre el 10 y 16 de abril. Hay que decir que lo hicimos con un grupo llamado ESN (Erasmus Student Network) de la universidad de Oulu. Hello erasmoos friends!  Well, the official event was named "Nallikari Finnish Carnival Reindeer". That event is similar. The item of the day was the visit to Nallikari island where there are some typical finnish activities that met a lot of people, especially families with their children. For example, activities such as a skating race (over the ice), a walk with the reindeer's sledge, quads (small car machines), a snow labyrinth and a wooden rotating sledge for the children. The rest of the things were covered by the finnish landscape, with a bright and a incredible whiteness.  But, the best thing or idea of the day was a impromptu trip / hike with erasmus group that purposed to walk on the thick layer of the ice of the Baltic sea (the area is known as Bothnia's gulf). Today, I'm gonna talk about an finnish event that took place in the northern Finland, the Reindeer Day.  When the sun started to rise up the cold and blue sky, I woke up quickly and I saw the white and frozen landscape in front of my eyes. The day was really clear and sunny, it wasn't typical in northern Finland, I thought. The weather of the day encouraged me to go out.  Thus, as I knew that day there was a spetial finnish event in the city center, I met with another spanish guy (from Málaga).  Once time, me and my friend were ready to go there and we went by bike from our apartments, located in Yliopistokatu to the city center (Oulu). The total lenght of this journey was about 6 km (rountrip 12 km). The way was covered by a thick layer of frozen ice and the natural surroundings were covered a by great layer of snow (more than 50 cms acumulated).  Hello erasmus people! Today, I want to talk about an special event named "Oulun Musikkijuhlat" or in english "Oulu Music Festival". It was carried out in the market place (city center) of Oulu. As I live in Linammaa, it's 6 km away from the city center, I decided to go by bike in advance because is the only free way for arriving there. So, I took my bike and I went there. I don't know exactly how much time I spent, but I think it was 20 -25 min. The surroundings were dark and a little bit cold. When I arrived there I saw a great bunch of people around the the concert. The atmosphere of this quirky concert it was more warm that I can ever imagined.  For verify my presence there, I've recorded 3 videos and some photos. I think that event spent 1h or less because I arrived late, but fortunately I didn't miss the best part of the concert. So, here some pics:    I hope that you enjoy Leer el resto »

 Hola de nuevo, Hoy voy a hablar un poco como es el día a día en Oulu, bueno en el barrio donde yo resido. Yo alojado en uno de los múltiples pisos que el PSOAS (entidad que se encarga de vender y alojar a los estudiantes de intercambio y también a los propios finlandeses) que se encuentra a 5 minutos de la University of Oulu. El barrio se llama Linammaa, pero el distrito es Kaijonharju. Tenemos otros servicios como un pub (llamado Caio), dos supers (Tokmanni y Sale), una farmacia (apteeki), un quiosco (Kioski) y también unos grandes almacenes, el PRISMA (pero está más alejado, a unos 20 min caminando). Todo esto está muy bien sino fuera porque vivimos a la periferia de la ciudad, es decir, a 6 km. Hay varias maneras de llegar: en taxi (muy barato cuando vas en grupo), en bus (menos barato que el taxi, un billete cuesta unos 3,20€ y te dura 1h y algo, aunque Leer el resto »

 Hola erasmoos, Después de alguna semana sin escribir ningún post, hoy domingo 12 de febrero de 2012, quiero hablar de un deporte muy salusable y conocido por todos: el footing o running. Pero a diferencia del normal, hay una modalidad que es más entretenida y guapa: el finnish running. Esta modalidad se diferencia del footing normal porque corres por nieve. Y la verdad me ha gustado. A continuación os explico con detalle. Esta mañana sobre las 12:30 (11:30h en Spain) empecé mi "finnish running day" desde mi apartamento (ubicado al norte de Oulu, Linnammaa), hice un recorrido de ida y vuelta de 3km aprox; y en tiempo 45' (con breaks incluidos). Lo más destacable de este tipo de running es que la realidad circundante (el paisaje vamos) era de una belleza espectacular.  Hola de nuevo! Hoy os voy a contar algunas cosas de Oulu en el mes de Enero.  En el primer mes del año, Enero, el tiempo ha cambiado bastante respecto a cuando empezó el invierno. En este mes, las temperaturas han descendido notablemente, llegándose a alcanzar mínimas de -19ºC, y máximas de -13 o -14ºC. En otros años, las temperaturas habían sido mucho mas bajas  y extremas, por ejemplo llegando a los -30ºC o más incluso. Me refiero a que a principios de este año, la "normalidad térmica" en Finlandia que es registrar temperaturas más bajas no se está cumpliendo como debería. Aun así, los que vivimos entre la zona de los lagos y Laponia, ya hemos notado ese frío. Por ejemplo, la sensación de congelación de las manos en unos segundos cuando te dispones a tirar una foto Leer el resto »

 Hola amigos/@s de intercambio! Aquí estoy de nuevo para contaros el tema de las auroras boreales (o "northern lights" en inglés).Ayer por la noche (24/01/12), yo y unos amigos de piso fuimos a observar auroras. Anteriormente ya consultamos por internet (en webs especializadas) si había probabilidades de ver alguna aurora, ya que dependiendo de las condiciones atmosféricas se pueden ver o no. Según las predicciones, decía que la intensidad y probabilidad de verlas era de 5 (es decir, máxima) en todo el norte de Europa, Canadá, Alaska y Rusia. Lo que desconocíamos era la hora exacta para observarlas, ya que esa información no estaba. A partir de las 23:00h, yo y un grupo de erasmus nos dirigimos a un lago cercano a Linnamaa (barrio periferico de Oulu), y estuvimos allí dando un paseo alrededor del lago para ver si aparecían o no Leer el resto »
